Speaker: Chris Koon

Title: Think Big, Live Large, Loving Life”

About the talk: As a child, Chris was in danger of falling through the cracks of the educational system. His energy and enthusiasm were mistaken for inattention and rowdiness, and he was also diagnosed with dyslexia. Daily reprimands and low marks on assignments made Chris feel like he was incapable of attaining success.

Fortunately, Chris discovered his talent for long distance running at an early age. Finishing ahead of older and more experienced runners in races instilled in him a much needed feeling of achievement and self-confidence. When his local newspaper wrote a feature story about him entitled “Marathon Boy”, Chris began to believe that anything is possible. Chris would draw on the strength he gained from these successes to help him overcome obstacles in school and throughout life.

Chris purchased his first Northwestern Mutual policy as a young adult, and quickly understood the importance of taking control of your financial future. He was so impressed with the company that he decided to launch his career as a Northwestern Mutual financial representative in 1994. Soon thereafter, he married his wife, Lisa Rose, and started a family. Chris and Lisa have three children; Berkley, Ava, and Gunnar.

Speaker bio: Chris joined Northwestern Mutual in December of 1995. He was recruited by Christopher D Wright, a consistent top 20 financial representative in the network. Chris wanted to do the things that his recruiter did to be just as successful.

He had an amazing start. He did 67 lives his first six months in the business and 137 lives his first year. He finished 2nd in the Southern Region and 3rd in the company while also qualifying for the Million Dollar Round Table his first year in the business. In his second and third years he finished 2nd in the Southern Region as well as the entire company.

Chris is a life member of the Million Dollar Round Table and a six time Forum Qualifier with the Northwestern Mutual. A Forum member is the top 3% of all 8,000 Northwestern Mutual Financial Representatives. In addition to his personal production, Chris is a field Director within the Qualy Organization. He has been responsible for bringing 25 representatives into the Northwestern Mutual system during his 14 year career.

Chris enjoys volunteering his time for both the industry that he loves and his community. He is on the board of the St. Louis chapter of NAIFA as well as a development board member for St. Louis Children’s Hospital. He is an avid marathon runner.

He is most passionate about his beloved wife, Lisa Rose, and his children Berkley, Ava Rose, and Gunnar. They are his hope, his inspiration and the driver in his life. Chris achieves great satisfaction out of being of service to others; helping them tap into their full potential, realizing that all dreams in life are out there for all of us to reach for. It is a rare individual that will tap into their own talent with great faith and desire to make those dreams come true.
